Okay, so first of all, this trip to Kenya didn't go as planned. IDK if all of you know, but I was actually born in Kenya and my cousins and uncles and aunts, etc, still live there.
We got there on Friday morning and the house we were staying at belongs to my mom's 4 brothers, they all live together with their respective families. We just hung out, visited more family, etc. We were supposed to go to another town on Monday morning so we packed and stuff and headed to bed late Sunday night. We had been asleep for half an hour-ish when my cousin slams the door open and is screaming and crying, saying my uncle is no more. We freaked out and ran downstairs to see what was going on. It turns out that my uncle had an asthma attack of sorts and before he could get to the hospital, he passed away. This was one of my favorite uncles and I hadn't seen him in 3 years. It hit us hard and we spent the rest of the week mourning. So yeah, definitely an unexpected turn. Please don't give your condolences or anything, I'm not telling you for you to feel sorry for me or anything. Just explaining what happened...
But, we were told to be strong and that this trip could still be salvaged. We went to Tsavo (a safari of sorts) that weekend and saw tons of animals. They were further than I had hoped, but the ride there and the night we spent at the camp was amazing. Me and my sister went with another uncle and five of our cousins and had a blast. Yeah, it was hard, but nice to get away too.

Then on Monday, we went to Malindi, which is a town off the coast of Kenya where we were gonna go the past week. We went to the beaches, shopped a little, and then went to feed the fish. It was amazing!!! And so gorgeous! This time it was me, my sister, and one of my cousins.

One of the best places to go in Mombasa, the town I was staying in, is Lighthouse, which is basically a stretch of land where you look out into the water, buy snacks and stuff, and chill. It's a beautiful sight, and a place that shouldn't be missed!

This trip also had some VERY exciting news after the tragedy at the beginning...My sister got engaged!!! We're thinking of doing the wedding in a year, right back in Kenya, but nothing's been finalized yet. I'm so excited for her and me brother-in-law to be is kinda awesome :D
To see more pictures, they are all here
WHEW. Hope you enjoyed that!!! :)
