A/N: Forlusiology’s birthday who wanted confusion. Also, I was doing the Dove drabbles and kind of stopped after a bit, but this is also for one of those: Be a little mysterious. This is also for enchanted_jae’s Monthly Drabble Challenge at GreatestJournal for Draco’s birthday. Wow, that’s a lot! haha
Harry, Draco thought, is acting very mysteriously today, and frankly, he’s confusing me.
Draco was thinking this as Harry Apparated, once again without telling him where he was going. Not that Draco needed to know, but normally Harry always told him what was going on.
Draco suspected the worst, namely that Harry was cheating on him, but he didn’t want to jump to conclusions.
Today was Draco’s birthday, and Harry hadn’t even so much as said “Happy Birthday” and that was a little odd. Harry always remembered. Draco hoped fervently that Harry’s constant disappearances had something to do with his birthday, but he didn’t want to get his hopes up.
So Draco went back to reading the Daily Prophet, and waited for Harry to return. Harry had promised that they would go out tonight. “Just because,” he had said.
Harry returned just as Draco finished the article on the Goblin arguments going on at Gringotts. Apparently, the Goblins were fed up with the way they were being treated by the Wizarding world, and were revolting.
“Draco, are you ready?”
Draco said he was, as he was wearing his best robes because it was his birthday, but Harry either failed to notice or just wasn’t paying attention.
Harry told him to hold on tightly, that he was going to Apparate them both. Draco just nodded and clutched Harry’s hand.
Harry Apparated them right outside “Tandoori Nights”, which was their favorite Indian restaurant, owned by Padma and Parvati Patil. A Wizarding take on Indian delicacies.
Harry pushed open the door, but before they went inside, he leaned over and whispered into Draco’s ear, “Don’t hate me, ok? I love you.”
Draco was more confused than ever! He didn’t know why Harry would say something like that.
Harry led them both inside and the host, none other than Dean Thomas, led them both to the back room, where they always ate, since Harry hated to be bothered by his “fan club” as Draco referred to it.
Dean opened the door and shouts of “Surprise, Draco!” rang out.
Draco looked inside and saw all of his old Slytherin friends, his coworkers from St. Mungo’s and the Weasley family, all looking at him with smiles on their faces.
Draco turned towards Harry and saw that although Harry was smiling, there was a hint of nervousness as well. Draco had always told Harry that he didn’t like surprises much, but Draco liked this one a lot, particularly because it was better than a break up dinner.
Draco smiled at Harry and instantly, the nervousness slipped off Harry’s face. Draco brought up a hand and gripped the back of Harry’s head, pulling him in for a deep kiss. Harry kissed back with enthusiasm but when coughs were heard, he slowly pulled away.
Draco leaned his forehead against Harry’s and with all the affection he felt for Harry shining in his eyes, he whispered a quiet “Thank you.”
Harry knew in that moment that he was forgiven for hiding this big surprise from Draco.
