Author's Note:
book_choco_loco's prompt for the meme was above.
Jensen had never made cake before but how hard could it be? The ingredients were simple and the icing store-bought, he didn’t think it would turn his kitchen into a disaster area. There was flour everywhere! Eggshells, spilt vanilla extract, baking powder, baking soda, chocolate chips and syrup and cocoa powder, and for some reason even cheese was all in disarray. His kitchen, to put it simply, was a mess.
And Jared was due home any minute too. He said he would be home as soon as he had finished shooting his scenes-even on his birthday they made him work. But he thought it’d be enough time to make a simple cake and hopefully Jared would thank him in a not so simple way.
But he couldn’t do anything even as easy as that. And Jensen was steadily freaking out. He didn’t want to disappoint Jared, as corny as that was.
He heard a click from the lock and just gave up, he tried, and hopefully that was enough.
Jared opened the door and called, “Honey, I’m home,” like he did every time he opened Jensen’s door and snickered to himself like he did every time. He didn’t see Jensen in the living room and saw the light on in the kitchen so he headed in that direction. He stopped dead in his tracks as soon as he entered through the doorway.
The kitchen was like a war zone. There was stuff everywhere and in the midst of it all, there was Jensen, peeking at him guiltily through flour smudged eyelashes. He was biting his lip and looked so embarrassed. He had flour everywhere and his hair looked white. But Jared knew he had done it for him, and who could resist a boyfriend that would be willing to make…something…for him when he had no skills in the kitchen. He stepped closer and closer to Jensen.
Jensen started wringing his hands as well, “Jay…ummm…Happy Birthday?” he phrased it like a question and that’s all it took for Jared to reach out and soothe away the cheeks stained with the red of a blush, to soothe the lip swollen from being bitten.
Jared reached for Jensen and Jensen was glad. Jared didn’t seem upset thankfully. He had a hint of a smile on his face with soft eyes. Jensen held on as Jared ravished his mouth in a bruising kiss and murmured, “Thank you, baby. I know you tried and I appreciate the thought.” Jensen just kissed back with just as much fervor, “How about I give you another present?” And tugged him towards the bedroom, grabbing the chocolate syrup on the way.
