some helpful hints...
Aug. 14th, 2012 12:50 amThings NOT to do when posting fic. (Brought to you by a newsletter coder...)
1. Do NOT use #cutid1. We want to see warnings and headers! We also, as coders, don't want to backspace. It's annoying. It may not seem like much but doing it constantly get annoying. Promise.
2. CLEARLY state your pairings. In the header or heading, whatever. CLEARLY.
3. As said above, do the same for ratings. It makes life easy, promise.
4. DO NOT use 'if you squint' or 'tilt your head sideways then maybe' or 'slash goggles'. We will mock the hell out of you on Twitter and may just refuse to code on principle alone.
5. Don't have #style=mine or whatever it is, please. Same for the annoying backspacing.
6. Don't link off LJ unless you warn for it. It gets frustrating trying to figure out where the original post is haha
7. Umm please don't link to art directly (the post was at a comm and I assumed it went to the artist's journal). I saw things I wish I hadn't. Repeatedly.
8. If you link to your journal with fic, have a header there too. Because we aren't going to go hunting for pairings and ratings.
9. Use readable text! For your reader's sake. Squinting? Not going to make us want to read.
10. Fake cuts require more clicking than I want. This will also lead to mocking. haha
11. Post proper ratings. One is enough, promise. Also, don't make up your own like M-17 or Y-12. They don't make sense and will lead to more mocking.
I'll post more as I remember them haha
ION. Suits last week KILLED me. I wanted to hug Harvey FOREVER AND EVER. It was nice seeing an inside look in the characters :)
